Parent Meeting

We will have a short parent meeting at the beginning of practice on Wednesday, May 1st.  Now that we have our official roster, we just want to make sure everyone is on the same page going forward.  Additionally, there are some player and parent conduct agreements that the league requires us all to sign. See you at the practice field!

Monday April 29th

Practice tonight will be at Riverview Fields from 6-8 PM.  We will have a short parents meeting at the beginning of practice.  See you tonight.

BASEBALL CAMP

Shelley Russet Baseball Camp is this Saturday, April 27 from 12:00 until 2:00 PM.  We encourage all players to attend camp and learn from Russets high school coaches and players.  Fee is only $10.  See you there!

Practice at Shelley High School tonight

Tonight's practice will be at Shelley High School at 6:00.

The high school coaches have requested that we stay off of the infield to prevent damage to the tarps.

Pitches will be working off of the practice mounds and all of the boys will practice hitting and fielding.

Super 8 Hitting

Remember to:

1. Stand with feet about shoulder width, knees slightly bent, relaxed.
2. Knocking knuckles lined up with your wrist cocked back  
3. Hands and arms comfortably close to your body with the bat above your shoulder.
4. Your bottom hand carries the bat to the ball - Your top hand fires the bat at the ball with a snapping action to make contact.

Stance . . . . . Coil . . . . . . Stride . . . . . Drive . . . . Drive . . . Extend . . Extend again . . Finish

Roster

As we discussed at the parent's meeting, we are splitting the Shelley JV Babe Ruth squads to make sure we can get kids the playing time they deserve.  I wanted to post our roster as we know it at this point.

Parent Meeting

Practice tonight will be from 6:00 - 7:45 at Riverview Fields where we normally practice.

Immediately after practice, all Babe Ruth parents will meet at City Park.  The meeting is mandatory - if you are unable to attend, please call Brett or Amy Welty so we can make sure everyone has the same information.

Calling all BALLPLAYERS!!!

We're getting close to the signup deadline of April 20th.  Any boys that want to play need to make sure they are signed up and ready to go!

Know any boys that want to play but haven't been to practice yet?  It's not too late!

Know any adults with baseball experience that would like to help coach?  Shelley baseball has lots of boys that want to learn.

Practice CANCELLED tonight

Due to rain, 40° temperatures and 24 mph winds, tonight's baseball practice is cancelled.  We'll see you at the fields tomorrow night.

Signups and Forms

If you have not signed kids up yet, please do so ASAP.  The sooner we finish getting signed up the quicker we can finalize rosters.  Feel free to bring them to practice this Tuesday or next week.  

We will also need a legible photocopy of each boy's birth certificate for our files (league rules).  

Hey folks...ready for baseball?  we are on verge of starting practice for real.  We will be having our last community baseball all ages camp on Tuesday night from 6-8 PM at the Riverview fields.  That will be the only event this week.  We will start regular Babe Ruth Practice next week.  Practice will be Monday-Thursday evenings from 6-8 PM, starting a week from tonight (4/8/13).  All of our practices will be at the Riverview fields unless otherwise specified.  We are planning on consolidated practices with all Babe Ruth-age kids (13-15) at least until the season starts.  Starting Monday, 4/8, practice attendance is mandatory to make sure the kids are ready to go once the season starts.  look forward to seeing everyone.
